China has formally initiated the standardization of its computer games industry with over a dozen of standards related to the games industry released on the website of China National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee.

According to the report of Hong Kong's Wenhui Paper, the new standards include an Online Games Safety Regulation; Online Games Testing Regulation; Online Games Software Development Technical Specification; and Technical Specification on Games Software and Multimedia.

CNITSTC will be responsible for the implementation of the new standards which are designed to fully regulate China's games system, guide the normal development of the industry and protect the legal interests of both game operators and users.
