The manufacturer just announced that he was about to invest 22 billions of Yen in order to reinforce his production capacities in the OLED panels (organic light-emitting diode) for middle and large sizes. Sony has started his research in OLED technology since 1994, they think it is going to be the next display technology.  In December, 2007 they launched the XEL-1, the first OLED TV.

The investment is going to take place from the beginning of the 2nd semester of the Fiscal Year which end the 31st of march 2009.
